There is a new feeling of embarrassment and shame in Texas concerning Houston based Enron's record breaking bankruptcy filing late last year.

There seems to be a real sense of concern in the state that likes everything big that Enron's record did not hold up for even one year.

"It's a real disappointment to see another company come along and blow one of our state's biggest accomplishments right out of the water, especially a company that is based in Mississippi", said one Texas business leader who asked not to be named, referring to the Worldcom bankruptcy filing which was almost twice as large as Enron's. "Hell, it'd be like if Trent Lott organized a successful coup against Texas's own George W. Bush," raising his voice when mentioning the President's name and looking around for approval from any fellow Texans within earshot.

Don Walker, a Dallas financial analyst echoed the sentiment.

"It's interesting and maybe understandable that Mississippi, the poorest state in the Union, would be home to the company with this record, but damn, I really thought we had that one in the bag."
