FCC Forces Madonna Name Change
Star will also change her fake accent

Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, better known to the world as the pop music superstar Madonna, has decided to change her name to Esther.

The change comes after the FCC ruling earlier this week that the word "Madonna" had implicit sexual meaning thanks to the star's long career of nudity, swearing and nudity. Faced with the possibility that radio stations would not be able to say her name over the airwaves she quickly chose the most sexless female name available and began the legal proceedings to have her name changed.

"Madonna is known for being able to reinvent herself," says media analyst Nathan Lantz. "She has a proven track record of reinventions and almost has it down to a science. If anyone can make the name Ester sexy, Madonna can."

"Oh, she's the best at reinventation," says Madonna's 80's diva competitor Cyndi Lauper. "I tried to do it myself in the 80's by associating myself to Captain Lou Albano and professional

wrestling in general. That's when I realized how hard it is to reinvent yourself. I've been terrible at it. Look at me now, I do cameo appearances on television and basically play a fatter version of myself circ 1986."

With reinvention again on her mind, sources say Madonna will also be replacing the fake accent she uses in her speaking voice with one that might sound a little more natural with the name Esther, perhaps New York Jewish.

Lantz notes that, "For the last six or seven years, Madonna has been speaking with a pseudo-English, rich snob, 1930's film star voice. It's very off-putting and sounds condescending to the listener. In fact, those of us who analyze the media have been expecting her to drop that weird accent for a long time."

Asked if analyzing the media is anything like watching T.V. while blogging Lantz replied with a hearty, "Well I never!" and stormed out like the media analyst he is.

His replacement, noted blogger WideScreener, said in an instant messenger interview today, "I think Madonna is going to have to try harder than a mere name change for this reinvention. She says she's done taking off her clothes and kissing teen stars like Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera which frankly, means she may be sunk. If she decides to start wearing a bra, that'll be the death knell of her career.

WideScreener argues that the days when the FCC could control American culture may be as over as Madonna's career, "Just because the FCC is cracking down on sexual content doesn't mean it's going away, it just means kids won't pay attention to mainstream media. We'll just find pictures of girls kissing on the internet instead of on MTV. Esther can choose to be one of them or choose to be forgotten, it's just that simple."
